I usually shave my chest, but this time I decided to wax it (bad idea but its too late). Now I have this small red bumps and marks on my upper chest, and would like to know how long does it take to heal, and what can I do make them heal faster?

I’ve waxed it last night, and leaving for a vacation tomorrow.

After waxing splash the area with cool water every couple hours, then use Aloe Gel, it's great! The bumps will go away in a couple days. If you want a hairless chest, which I don't understand why that's the trend these days, then continue with waxing. Shaving will eventually make it too coarse, like a beard, how can a woman snuggle up to that?!?!?!

Waxing Bumps

Use aloe vera, wear loose shirts to let the bumps heal, if not sweat will get into them and irritate your skin like crazy.

Be careful because the red bumps seen after waxing are due to follicular inflammation. When a hair is pulled out from its follicular opening before it's time (from waxing or plucking) this is shocking to the follicle and it becomes slightly swollen and inflammed.

This usually calms down by itself but in some unlucky few, this can result in little whiteheads (aka pimples). These whiteheads are formed when the normal bacteria on the skin (Staph aureus) go down into these inflammed follicular openings and cause tiny little infections.

Sometimes the red bumps can take a couple of days to go away, especially if you have sensitiv skin. After I get my legs waxed, it is usually red and bumpy for 2-3 days. In the meantime, you can wrap your legs in cool compresses. Sometimes that helps me. You can also try rubbing on a small amount of baby oil.

I get bumps on my upper legs too, it's very weird. Keep using that after wax and after shave cream helps mine too. Fragrance-free lotion is another way to moisturize it to make them disappear. If it stays there for a long time and starts to look like a rash you might want to have a dermatologist check it out. It could be because you have sensitive skin, if there is a sensitive skin form of the wax you are using that might be the best and maybe after doing this you could wash your legs with Dove Senstive Skin Soap and that might also help. For me the after-shave cream worked the best. Good luck!

Hi,
I am a dermatologist by profession and within a careeer of 10 years I have seen lots of acne problems. According to me Red and white pimples are the worst and painful. Acneprone skin is very sensitive, even if you touch it once the redness will increase with itching. According to me there is no magical way to heal your pimples over night as this is the puffed part of your skin due to the bacteria.

In simple words try to improve your diet and have lots of water that helps in healingg process. Un-necessary oily food should be avoided to get a healthy spotless skin.

It depends on how sensitive your skin is. To help sooth your skin:

1. Take warm/luckwarm showers.
2. Use a mild soap.
3. Apply aloe vera gel or azulene oil/lotion/cream.
4. If there's any itching or flaking, apply 1% hydrocortisone cream.
5. Wear soft cotton tees under your shirts.
6. Be sure to wear sunscreen. Waxing removes a bit of the top layer of skin, leaving it more prone to sunburn.

Bon voyage.

Just a day or so. DON'T use any lotions with a scent, it will make it worse.
