up the room with different colors that would complement the couch. Any ideas for color combos for this afghan?

How about blue, pink, or yellow. Not the childlike pastel versions but the adult muted tones. Below are some patterns you may like. Mostly I just wanted to show you which colors would work.

I just crocheted a blanket with 20 squares ..each one 12 by 12 ..I crocheted them together using a single crochet on both sides making it reversible..I used 20 different colors..for me it was 5 shades of greens..5 of rust to peach 5 of blues navy to light denim 5 of browns to off white ...I put it together with Black..it is beautiful and the stand up joining crochet stands out well ..you can do this with less colors..but use at least 5 colors(then do 4 of each)..happy crocheting!!

What are the other colors in your room? I think your best bet is to tie in the colors with exsisting color scheme as long as it doesn't make it too bright. You wouldn't want a tweety yellow if you have a pastel yellow on your walls for example. What other rooms can you see from your couch that you could pull color from, a favorite picture on the wall, your colors just need to tie in to other colors you already have. Just try not to use colors that are too garish for brown.

I'd like to see you lighten it up without going TOO bright. How about one of the lovely pale greens that are so popular right now? If you want color variation, you might use a pastel peach, pale yellow, and french blue in with it.
Wish I could crochet!

Why not make it the color of the rainbow. You could also go in tones of yellow and burgundy...that would be bright and pretty! I croquet too...I made mine of all my old yarn that was left over and it also made a beautiful blanket...
