Well I guess nothing is full proof! I have heard that clamping is not as effecting as when they burn the tubes then tie them. If the clamps are a decade old I guess there may be a way they either were loosened or possibly broke off??? Who knows! I am sure the doctor will be able to tell you more from and ultrasound. Clamps don't last, with mine the tubes were cut first then tied. I had a tubal done 21 years ago and it's still working.

Even having them burned is not 100%, nothing but absitnece is 100%, my ex-boyfriends mother had a baby after a tubal as did my sister. An IUD is actually more effective than a tubal. A tubal is only 99.4% ( or something close to that) and an IUD is 99.8%. In the paperwork you signed it states that, in very tiny letters, but it is there. Tubal ligations using a clamp instead of cauterization are notoriously unreliable; by all means, if you have it re-done, insist upon cauterization of the tubes. If your doctor won't do it (I can't imagine why he/she wouldn't), find one who will.
