I found a small article saying that in 1980 SWAT teams deployed 3,000 a yr and in 2000 there were 40,000 a year. where can i find more data like this??

It all depends on factors which cannot be determined, because you never know when swat may be needed at any given time of the day, or night. There may be lulls, where they may not be needed for days, or even weeks.
