Unless you had significant unearned income, such as investment income or interest, you don't need to file. You could file a regular tax form and claim ZERO for everything, but there is no reason. If you want to claim the Telephone tax credit, there is a special form this year for people who are only filing to claim it. The 1040EZ-T can be downloaded from the link below.

kanman1958: The earned income credit requires EARNED income. If you don't work at all, you don't have earned income.

If you didn't work and had no income, the only reason you should file is to claim the phone tax rebate if you're eligible for it.

If you have no income, then you don't need to file. But if you qualify for a refundable credit (I think the Earned Income Credit may be) just fill out the form showing no income and send it in

You don,t need to but I guess you can, just go to H&R block they will figure it out!
