First the training and education- ensure you are CPR certified. Then you will need a permit and insurance- your local office will tell you exactly WHAT will be required in your state to secure a licensure.
Make sure you have a strong desire to care for children and plenty of educational materials.
Visiting several other daycares in the area to get an idea is a good idea. Good luck!
(And invest in some Tylenol or Advil lol!)

I used to run a day care from my home. With the help of a franchise called Monday Morning Moms.
You have to have a clear back round check. Love kids.
and check with your state as far as permits and how many kids you can have to 1 adult in your care.
Look and see if Monday Morning Moms is near you.
They offer insurance (if a child falls outside), back up if you are sick, toys, cribs... and support. They find you the people too so if you know a family is not a fit. Say no!
Find out locally if your area as rules and advertise.
Have good ref. and it's hard work but it keeps you home with some $$!

I have been a licensed child care provider in my home for 20 years. Each state has their own system for licensing child care facilities. Your first step is to contact the Department of Human Services office in the county you live in. You will find the number in the phone book under government numbers. This is the department where the office of child daycare licensing is located. I live in Michigan and there is also a website www.michigan.gov/dhs. You might try the website substituting your state for Michigan. You will have certain requirements you have to fulfill before receiving your license. For me, I had paperwork to fill out that included personal references, health form filled out by my doctor, and background check form. I also attended a class where we went over the Licensing Rules handbook and received training. You will likely have a home visit by someone from the licensing office either before or just after you are approved for a license. The licensing board will give you the help you need to get your licensed home up and running. You will want to advertise or begin spreading the word that you are going to be doing daycare. My license allows me to care for up to 6 children at one time. There are specific guidelines as to the age ratio of the children (for example, I can care for only 2 infants, under the age of 18 months at one time). You may be able to find the licensing rules for your state online as well.

A degree in early childhood education, a license, certificated safety training, as well as the same for the people you hire. The required caregiver to child ratio depending upon age group, a business degree, and education in psychology, foreign languages, sign language as well as an appropriate faclitiy for the children. And at least three times the amount of money you would need to pay for it all.

Well you need to be educated first, and you will have to find a place for them to be. If you do it in your home there are certain requirements that you have to follow. You can google home daycare and how do I get started. All of your answers will be there for you. Also call a local daycare and see if they have numbers you can call.
