I volunteer at a shelter near my house right now and I really love it. But I am moving to NC to go to college there (NC State) soon and I was just wondering if there was a local humane society/aspca/shelter I could volunteer at? (I'm 17 as of now) With the one I volunteer at now I play with the dogs, walk, feed, clean the cages .. will that be the same with all shelters?

I love working with animals and would like to find a shelter near by (or breed rescue). Any suggestions of what I could do if there arent any? And what I would do there?

Thanks in advance!

I don't know what county you will be living in but, NC duties for shelter volunteers are about the same. You would be doing walking, feeding....sometimes bottle feeding depending on the county.... baths... cleaning... You know...the basics. Just contact the Humane Society in the county where you will be living and they will be able to tell you what you need to know! Some counties do have different poilices for volunteers.
Good Luck and Bless Your Soul for doing what you do!!

Wake County ASPCA: (assuming you'll be in Raleigh?):

watch for other opportunities to help here:

Good luck in college, and remember, even if you are only volunteering because you love to help animals, it looks GREAT on your resume!
