It depends how much you drink and over what period of time. One beer, one shot of liquor, or four ounces of wine all have about the same amount of alcohol. One drink of any of these will raise your blood alcohol content about 0.02. Your body burns alcohol at about 0.02 per hour. Theoretically, if you finished drinking a beer at 7:00 pm and waited until 8:00 pm to have the next, you will have burned off all the alcohol from the first beer before you started the second.

Most people don't drink like that. They drink several drinks in an hour. The longer they drink the faster they drink. The faster they drink the drunker they get. The drunker they get the more they drink until they are so drunk they are puking or passed out.
