What a bunch of lifeless dummies. You can tell that you will never get support or encouragement from them. Find supportive friends instead. It's frustrating that you cannot share your dreams and plans with your own family. They don't sound like they have the social skills that you have. Best of luck to you!

You need to be asking them why they do this and not us. Believe me, I would want to know why they feel like they do so you can keep the peace. Take them by surprise just once and ask them. Leave them no choice but to answer the question. If that doesn't work, stop sharing information with them. Maybe they are jealous or they think you are telling them things to "rub their noses" into it especially if it is something they have never been able to do. If it were me, I would have asked them sometime ago. You are all adults. If they don't like the question then by all means stop telling them things.

Heaven forbid you should do better at this age than they did at the same age or ever. Don't confide in them as it is hurtful. Then when they complain you didn't tell them and let them in on your plans just say you didn't want to burden them,( very nicely, don't be sarcastic.) It is not just your famiy that takes this attitude. The reason, bottom line, ok they are jealous...I don't like to say it but thats it in a nut shell. You and your love go on, you succeed wonderful , you fail, then the next time go about things differently you don't know unless you try ..hopefully they are good ideas and not stupid...too costly when its stupid, you be your own judge and jury....

I don't really know. I have the same problem although it is not my in laws, its my family. Every time we talk about moving or having kids, there is always some one who wants to spoil it. I am sorry that you are in that situation. Hopefully you and your partner can find a way to work through it together.

It just does not compute with them and that's why they have nothing to say.
If the subject doesnt involve them then they have no interest.
