I can't find my U.S. passport but am in D.C. Is there a way I can get a rush passport within 48 hours?

This is the ULTIMATE Yahoo Answers question -- is there anyone who can share their knowledge with me on HOW TO GET A REPLACEMENT U.S. PASSPORT BY TUESDAY MORNING? Major kudos to anyone who can help me!

This government office needs an appointment, but you could try:

Is the rush passport agency for Washington DC. It's for people traveling in less than two weeks, but an appointment is required.

I had a friend who got her passport the same day, but this was several years ago (but post 9/11).
