Neither.
The civil war was suppose to end slavery.
Today we see people working in minimum wage jobs and still not making enough to survive. We are becoming a wage slave nation.
Therefore, civil war is not longer about blacks and whites. Its now the "haves" and the "have nots".

To be a bit more specific, forces loyal to a strong Federal Government won over those favoring a loose confederation - and then two nations.
The North refers to the Northern States (e.g. Pennsylvania, Michigan, Indian, Ohio, New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Delware, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri, Conneticut, New Jersey, and so on)...Canada wasn't really involved.
Other nations may have provided aid to either the Union or the Confederacy, but for all practical purposes, the only folks involved were the Northern States and the Southern States.
The Northern States won, forcing the Southern States to remain within the Union under the Federal government in Wahsington, DC.
The Civil War took place from 1861-1865. Abraham Lincoln was the President.
Richard Nixon was President of the United States from 1969-1974.

I lived in Georgia for a on a similar time as and that i could say that the persons of the south include the civil conflict as extra of their way of existence than people from the north. I even have never heard of everyone thinking that the south gained the civil conflict. in the event that they do think of that way they're unaware of historic previous.

Somewhere I heard it was the Russians that won after attacking, South Cuba. Nixon was a General and rode a tank. The final battle was the Battle of Lexington and they celebrated with a Tea Party.

It was under Abraham Lincoln's administration. The North won the war, but after many of the States lost their men. It was one of the bloodiest wars ever fought.
There are many countries that fought for either the North and The South.

You can't be serious about the Nixon thing.
The Union won under the leadership of President Abraham Lincoln and General Ulysses S. Grant.

I'm guessing the comment about Nixon is some kind of sarcasm.
The North won the war. The North raped the South afterward. The South was victorious in the long run by holding our nation captive to backward religious notions and deeply entrenched bigotry of every sort.
In time, almost no victor remains victorious. That's just basic history.
