I haven't been able to use the restroom by myself since I brought home my now 1 year old German Shepard. I go, he goes. He sits and watches, then when I'm done he goes back to whatever it was he was doing before I went into the bathroom. If I'm taking a bath, he'll lay in the doorway until I'm done, if its anything else he sits in front of me and stares. Is he trying to make sure the evil toilet doesn't flush me down into the sewer?

I read this in a funny joke someone sent me about a "note to their pet":

"For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years --canine or feline attendance is not required."

Just thought you would appreciate it haha.

definite they do.Altho our older dogs stopped this habit as quickly as we've been given the extra youthful one.i think he's exceeded the interest of guarding me jointly as i'm on the bathroom or in the bathe to the extra youthful dogs. If I close the door when I come obtainable are 2 cats and a minimum of one dogs laying in front of the door all gazing me like they're disillusioned that I did'nt want their help. The dogs think of each and every time i visit the bathing room they are going someplace as quickly as I come out so i could be watched heavily to be sure i'm in basic terms going pee until now they get too excited.

What IS up with that? I live with my mom and step-dad right now and with mine and theirs, we have 7 dogs and 2 cats. I have a Chihuahua and a cat, and the rest are Yorkies, one Chinese Crested and one more cat. When I get up in the morning everyone else is already up. I usually rush to the bathroom and barely have time to close the door before they all pile in after me! "She's awake! She's awake!" If it wasn't so funny having 7 dogs jumping at my ankles while I pee it would be really annoying. Then the times when I acutally do get the door closed my cat jumps at the door. He is bigger than most of the dogs and much heavier so it sounds like he is pounding on the door! Then he sticks his paw underneath to wave at me. Pets are so much fun, arent they?

LOL Try having 2- 90 pound Golden's watching every move you make in the bathroom! I've even shut the door but one has learned to open it. So I just gave up. They like to be where you are simple as that.
I haven't had any bathroom privacy since my children were newborns!
Your Dogs love you!!!!

The bathroom is a very interesting place for a dog. Lots of smells and I think some of them try to watch you to see if they can learn how to sit on the toilet themselves. Maybe he is really ticked off you are pooping in his water bowl. LOL

Sometimes I think they just like a captive audience. Shiloh, my Aussie, always watches me in the bathroom...but only me no other family members.

I once had a cat that every time I took a bath he would lay on the edge of the tub with his tail in the water.

LOL I have a 70lb mix, a Japanese Chin, and a Brussels Griffon. They , as well as 2 or 3 of my cats, always accompany me to the bathroom. I think they just want the company to be honest. If it bothers you , just close the door XD

Some dogs are very insecure and if their human is out of their sight they get upset. My sister has that problem with her Basset hounds, she has two who would break their neck to get to the window to watch her if she goes outside to talk to me when I come over.

German shepherds is just one of the many breeds that are very loyal and friendly. He loves you so much, he can't let you out of sight... afraid you'll get in some trouble. XD
