My sister-in-law had the same concern. Since I've seen several brides take their dresses with them on the plane, I told her to contact her airline to make arrangements for her to do the same. And she did. The airline said it would be no problem. When she checked-in for her flight she simply informed the person at the desk that she was told she could bring the dress on the plane with her and they told her it was not a problem. When she boarded the plane, the flight attendant hung it up on first class. Even before this, my sister brought my veil on the plane with her and they let her hang it up in first class too. So just call and talk with your airline in advance, I'm sure it will work out fine. Whatever you do, don't check your dress or ship it separately, this way you can make sure it gets there safely with you. Also, most bridal salons will prep your dress with you in advance, just let them know you'll be traveling with it for your destination wedding.

The best thing that she can do is arrange it with the airline that she will be taking so that she can bring it aboard with her. There are special places where it can hang at, and she will have access to it without the fear of it being lost by shipment or by misplacing it.
I would also say tat maybe she can check with the salon where she purchased the gown to see what they recommend. I am pretty sure they will tell her not to put it in the belly of the plane, as those cases are all stacked on each other.

Purchase large travel fold up garment bag from a luggage store. The bag is all zippered and will protect the wedding gown. If you have to fly, you can take that on the plane, but have the stewardess place the garment bag in an area they have set aside for garment bags on the plane. If you are traveling by car, just hang it up on the hook in your car. Nothing will happen to the gown don't worry.

maybe you could ask the dress shop if they could ship it to a local dress shop where the wedding will be held and you can pick it up there; or have a dry cleaner pack it in a box like they do when you want to store them.....I'm assuming by travel you mean plane; maybe you could contact the airline and see if they have somewhere in the back where it can hang?

Depends on how your traveling. By plane, they always accommodate this, as long as you have it protected properly (hanger with covering). Talk with your airline about his.
Other travel, same way or placed in a box ( if there is room). I wouldn't recommend just sending it to the destination (things seem to disappear when they're needed the most).
