I ran the 800 every year for middle school. It really depends on how much you train before the season starts and how much a run a week during the season. Don't ever over do it!!
My 8th grade year I ran around 3 minutes until the championship where I ran a 2:41.50. Don't listen to the 1st answer b-cuz I know this amazing senior in College who run a 2:15.
Just run about 4 times a week for about 3 miles. It's not that bad and it really helps. Then maybe once a week do four 400s cuz that will help with your speed. Good luck!!

The first answer is crazy. The times he quoted were from the Junior Olympics. A pretty good 800 time for a middle schooler would be maybe in the threes (minutes), twos in a real race. But remember, that's half a mile, unless you're running a 5 minute mile a 2 minute 800 is pretty darn impossible!

I ran track in high school 100 200 4X100 relay sometimes the 400 and the 300 in indoor track
I would say anything under 2:15 would be a good time for a middle school 800

2:30's to low 2:40's are really good times for middle shcool girls. You don't even have to think about 2 teens until you are in high school championship races- Unless you run USATF and AAU nationals, it's there you will see some of those freaky times from middle schoolers
