I already have a kid. For now, I do not want to have another kid because me and my husband are tight on the budget. So I am planning to use birth control pills. Is using contraceptives considered a sin?

Use them, just don't have an abortion or use the morning after pill.

No, it's not a sin, at least not in my religion before Amunism. I used to be a Catholic, and I was taught that it was okay to use contraceptives if it was an emergency, like if you had no money to take care of the baby. It would be considered a sin if you knew you didn't have enough money, and you raised the child anyway. Reason: You are putting the baby through torment. If you are on a tight budget, and you already have barely enough food (that is IF) the baby won't have enough food to grow up to be strong.

So, if you take those Birth control pills, it is not a sin. It is an emergency.

P.S: Did you know that it cost you about $1,000,000,000 (if you are feeding, clothing, and celebrating holidays properly) every ten years that you have a child? My parents, in 2006, calculated that they had currently spent that much on me. I have two sisters, and we all plan to go to college. Do the math. Even though I am a child myself, I would say have the least amount of children possible. They're a little bit of a drain on your bank account, but my parents said that we were worth all of that money. Maybe you would feel the same way, and maybe I will.

It really depends on to what religion you ascribe.

Roman Catholicism (and some other variations of Catholicism) frowns HEAVILY on using many types of contraceptives for a number of reasons. You can look up the subject at New Advent, or the Catholic Encyclopedia online.

It also depends on what kind of pill you are using. Real contraceptives, those that prevent you from ovulating, and hence concieving, may be alright. Abortifacients, prevent the newly concieved child from implanting, and this will be seen as murder.

Believe it or not, RC doctrine does allow for some types of contraception, depending on the circumstances.

I haven't heard of any Protestant denominations that frown on using contraceptives.

About other religions, I cannot speak.

The only group I know of that doesn't approve of contraceptives is the Catholics, but they also believe that abstinence should be practiced. I don't think it's a sin. I think it's a very wise move on your part.

Even if it was a sin....Much better to sin than to bring a child into the world when you are not able to properly care for it.

nope, it is not a sin... if God truly wants you to have another child, He will make it happen no matter what you try to do to stop it.... using contraceptives is not in the bible... so it cannot be a sin... some 'religions' frown upon it tho...

I think if you and your husband are in agreement, and you feel this is best for your family.... and you trust God... then go ahead and use them.... you will know when it is time to stop.... don't let a 'church' oppress you into thinking that 'they' are the only authority on knowing if it is right or wrong

Not in my book honey, it makes you a responsible person who cares about what is best for her family. Why would anyone think that bringing a child into this world knowing it would not get what is best for it is a bad thing? Contraception is not abortion, it is prevention.

I don't consider it a sin. I consider it responsible.

No doubt there are certain religions which dissagree with birth control.

God Bless.

Romans 14:23
And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
