G'day,

First of all, you will need to apply to the uni you want to study by filling in the application form and send it together with certified copy of your educational transcripts. Once processed, and if your qualification are OK, you will then offered a place.

You will then need to pay the required fees (usually 1 semester tuition fee + campus services fee + Overseas Student Health Cover). The uni will issue you with e-COE for you to apply for student visa (Yes... you do need a visa). You will then have to do health check and provide all docs required by the Australian High Comm. If everything OK, you got your visa and ready to fly.

How to find the uni is to visit IDP Education Australia website (www.idp.edu.au). IDP is an organisation that gives information to international students who wants to continue their study in Australia.

In regards to financial aid, you will need to contact the appropriate organisation/department in Canada for that purpose. I do know that alot of Canadian & US students study in Australia with financial aid from their countries.

Hope this helps. Good luck for your study and welcome to Australia :)

Start with the Department of Immigration web site at http://www.immi.gov.au to get information about visas etc. You will have to ask the Canadian Government about financial support.

Last time I checked the Commonwealth was really in name only.No one takes that seriously nowadays since most countries have their own sovereignty & immigration rules which as some have mentioned are pretty tough in some of the other commonwealth nations, especially in Australia & the new Uk rules !
