to being in your wedding? If so was it awkward and what was their reason? Did you remain friends? What would you do if this happened?

Chill out. I never said I was judging anyone. I'm just curious how others handle these things.

I actually told my cousin I didn't want to stand up in his wedding, at first he was shocked, but he came around later after his divorce was final.
I told him I knew it wasn't going to work, he is a really nice guy, and she was an obnoxious, money, hungry, *****!
She left him for a old rich guy, less than after 1 yr of marriage.

Well I asked a friend to be a bridesmaid and she said No. She said it was because she doesnt know my family well and would be embarrassed to stand up in front of everyone. I was surprised she said no and disappointed but i am glad she didnt say yes and then at the last minute drop out. And now I know i cant depend on her as much as you need to depend on a bridesmaid. I am still friends with her though.
I also turned down my friend who asked me to be a bridesmaid once i found out the dress would cost me 250++ dollars. I couldnt afford it and the style would not look good on me at all. We are also still friends to.

I dropped my fiance's sister. I purely requested her contained in the first position to be well mannered and she purely stated sure contained in the first position to be awkward. She did not come out on 2 days that we were buying for bridesmaids dresses regardless of the actuality that she replaced into accessible both days and had a months note for both days. the first time she made something up and the 2d time she merely did not take position and offered no clarification when I requested her. It replaced into about 4 or 5 months before the marriage and by chance I hadn't offered her dress, so it replaced into really ordinary to drop her.

My sister said no.
I just picked other friends and didn't ask her for anything else about my wedding.
There are many reasons why they may say no a friend is a friend your wedding is an amazing day but, not worth losing friends over there are others who will be happy to share your day.

I said no to be a bridesmaid for a "friend" because I knew it would cost a lot, and I didnt really like her enough to pay at least $1000 to be in her wedding.

Yes, we are still "friends" because I had the excuse of being a law student (and therefore not having the time and money she deserved).

I have heard of MOH and Bridesmaids turning down teh request due to financial situations. Not that they didnt want to, they just werent financially able. I have a friedn who asked her best friend to be a MOH and she turned it down because she didnt really care for the person who she was getting married to.

I think many stay friends. I wouldnt be upset personally, i would just find someone who could.

I asked my best friend to be my maid of honor and her response was "no" she told me that she had just bought her brand new car and had to save her money for the payments, insurance, etc. I was hurt at first but I got over it, she was there for me by providing advice, helping me choose my dress and even surprised me with a "girls night out" party. She is still my best friend!!!

If you judge your friendship by that then forget it. Some girls do not want to do it because it can be a hassel or a pain sometimes. I think brides think that everything should go their way. It does not work like that. She is your friend back off and find someone else. And you can ask why. And if you did drop her as a friend then she is better off.

no, but I am sure it has happened. I guess it would be rather awkward if the person didn't have a good reason but I am sure some people have had to say no for very good reasons, like lack of money or something.

I have turned down an offer to be in a wedding. They understood and, yes, we are still friends.
