Broken capillaries can be caused by high blood pressure or stress, among other conditions. Gary Sheffield (formerly of the New York Yankees, now on the Detroit Tigers) has a tendency to break the capillaries on the back of his hands because he grips the bat so tight when he swings.

I'm guessing you haven't been hitting any home runs recently, so it could also be increasing age, could be genetic, hormone changes (puberty, menopause). For a full list, see the source below.
