When you say certain Christians you are right. But please stop lumping us all together. I am a Christian I work for the Church and am working on a Masters in Pastoral Theology and had religious studies as a minor in undergrad days. I have studied to some extent at least most of the religions there are.
What I have learned on this R&S section is that very few people practice what their beliefs are no matter what religion they have or don;t have (meaning atheists).

i learned there is so much about people that denies humility and that most people think they know it all, and that these people are not humble but proud and aragont.
i learned that athiests will never listion to the testimony of a witness of jesus, which is almost like confirming the words of jesus which say though a dead man will come back from life if people will not listen or hear the truth, neither will a man who returns from the presense of jesus be enough for people to believe.
i have indeed learned a few things that are scriptural, at least at one time i was reproved of a specific doctrine.
its also nice to have people that come up with specific verses that i cannot find even if i use a word search engine. Search engines are easy to use but not a 100% reliable. There are verses that i know exist but cant find them, while others know where they are.
i have also learned that muslims have a completely different veiw of what scriptures are true and what are not. But most of the time Everyone only believes what they have been taught to believe even if teachers are false.

what have I learned by being on this forum.... that all people are the same no matter what the 'forum' .. you have those who are plain rude (doesnt matter what their Faith or lack of is) you have those who whine and scream... you have those who are self righteous and condemn (again it doesnt matter what their 'religious' background is) ... and you have those who just want to be center of attention (again, no matter what their religious beliefs are)
people are people... some respect people... some are disrespectful to most others... some are quiet and some are mouthy...
why do I come here? cuz once in a great while, an intelligent question is asked in the hopes of getting help or an intelligent answer.. it is like fishing.... some days you don't get a nibble.. other days you get a bunch.... just gotta wait and see what the day holds

I would never come here to simply preach the gospel., I know that thats why we are here (in the world) But I firmly believe in building realtionships first! I come here because it is interesting to see other points of view. It is so easy to think that the world is still based on Christendom values. But it isnt
Also it saddens me to see that people are so lost and hateful sometimes. Th main thing I have learned is to think outside the christian box so I can taylor the gospel to them.

Christan's come to see what people think about God. A true Christan should try to spread the word of god, how else will they learn if they don't go to church. Any one of any religion tries to convert people to that religion and if you say no the subject is dropped. Now I know what you are going to say, but it's like anything else some people just don't like the word no. And it really doesn't matter if it's religion or bowling they just keep going.

I didn't have to come here to learn about others religion. I did that years ago. What do you think by studying other religions that people like me will deny the truth of our own God. It just proved to me all the more that Christ is the way to the Father. I came to this site to hopefully speak with other Christians, instead I have encountered a very unbelieving younger generation.

well, the main thing i have learned is that everyone has a right to express their beliefs and viewpoints in the forum EXCEPT Christians....i haven't really seen much in the way of information about other beliefs...mostly i've seen bashing from all sides towards all sides...endless rants such as "all you Xtinas are so ignorent and stoopid-how can you be so dum?" or 'don't you reelize your all going to hell if you don't agree with me?' don't really contribute much to understanding...there have been some very good Q&A, but i've found that you've gotta go through a lot of garbage to find any gems...
by the way, maybe i'm inferring too much from the way your question is worded, but it seems like your idea of the purpose of this forum is to for users to tell others about their beliefs...if so, why is it that Christians always seem to get tagged with 'trying to ram it down our throats' if we express ours? that phrase is starting to sound like the atheist mantra...if i were to pose that question 'so why do you come to this forum' to atheists, i could almost guarantee dozens of angry replies...it's a free country, and a free forum...like the eagles song says, 'get over it'

What have I learned? Ohhhhh......boy.
Yahoo Answers is a bizarre collection of fervent Christians, angry Christians, angry atheists, and people who have nothing better in their life than poking virtual sticks in other men's eyes and trying to poke holes in their relative theologies.
That said, you can call me a Deist, if it matters.
I am content.
I have a good life, a good wife, and life is a giant orange, into which I bite daily, and let the juice run down my chin.
I don't think of myself as "better" than any man, but I wish all men could experience the joy I do...

propbably the same reason why you are here.some are devout, still others have been devout bible believers and have strayed. ive strayed and want back into the flock. but, you see, i know the way,the truth and the life. i know how to get back. are you getting the "JESUS" bug. if so, just come as you are. one thing that i can say is that jesus loves you and if you want salvation, just ask, brother. you will be amazed. there isnt anything in creation that can compare. and, its simple. once your saved, you wont look back. like i said, ive strayed, but, im accepted at any time. just come. we love you brother
