I'm going on a study abroad program in Lismore, Australia next Feb. and I'm trying to figure out how much I need to save for food for 5 months there. I'm just curious as to how much food costs for a single person per week. Thanks for any help!

I live about 100km from Lismore. It has three supermarkets as well as many other shops. I shop once a fortnight as it is a long way to go. If you are doing your own cooking and look for special offers you should be able to manage comfortably on $100 a week depending on what you like eating. If you are going to be eating out or using take-away food it will cost you more.

in case you dont drink/smoke/gamble and prepare dinner maximum of your foodstuff at abode and dont pass out plenty a unmarried guy can get via ok on $500 each week yet its no longer plenty exciting, in case you consume varied takeaway foodstuff and decide directly to pass to pub/membership/cinema/stay shows/eating places, and so forth... and function a automobile tochronic to artwork then discern a minimum of $750, yet you would be spending especially plenty all your earnings and not saving a cent, studio residences at $3 hundred each week are in intense short furnish and once you pass to examine one you could assume there'll be a brilliant number of different persons there looking, and that fee will very virtually by no means contain parking, its an costly city to stay in yet there are lots of unmarried adult adult males getting via ok on low earning, purely dont get ill, final wintry climate I caught a chilly and the fee of buying for some chilly pills/soreness killers/cough drugs and lozenges became into virtually $50

My partner and I are moderate eaters (I love to cook). We only eat out once per week. On average, between us, we spend around $80AU on our groceries per week.
For a single person, I'd allow at least $50 a week, depending on how much fresh produce and meat you like to eat.
I think $100 would be way too much a week for one person, especially if you're not a huge eater.

of course, it depends on your eating habits but $100 per week should be plenty.
some people can get by on half that..(not recommended)
