Atheists practice the religion of Atheism, which is basically doing moral good and trying to further the notion that there is no god.
They are not religion-haters, but rather they just don't like the idea that there are gods.
There are two fundamental differences between Christianity and Atheism:
1.) Atheists don't believe in a God or Savior.
2.) Atheists don't try to cram their perspective down other people's throats unless provoked by Christians cramming their God down their throats.
It's a vicious cycle, really.

Neither. Atheists simply believe in one less god than Christians, Jews, or Muslims who don't believe in the thousands of other gods that have been worshiped throughout history. We have lots of beliefs about other things, so we are not "non-believers", except when it comes to gods.
No, we don't practice a religion. Atheism only refers to a disbelief in gods - there is no additional dogma. One doesn't base a religion on the absence of others' religious beliefs.

I am an atheist. I don't hate religion although I don't accept any as true. There are som atheists who are decidedly anti-religion, but we are not a uniform group. The only thing all atheists have in common is a lack of belief in god/s. There are some atheist religions.

European atheists I've met tend to just be people who don't believe in a god. American atheists (and Israeli ones too) tend to be religion haters. I also seriously doubt they really do not believe in a god. They come off as disillusioned tribesmen hurling insults at an idol they no longer believe in, hoping it will punish them so they can believe again.
When I lived in Palestine, there were atheistic Jews there who would do wild things like hold banquets on the day religious Jews all fast, called Yom Kippur. That tipped me off to the fact they weren't really atheists, they just hated the Creator. Otherwise, who were they trying to make angry and why?

It is not any kind of organised group. I am both a non-believer, and wildly irritated by religions which seek to control people's lives. I hate not so much the religion, but those who try to control through it.

I am a non-believer. I do not hate any religion. I do not hate believers in religion. I do hate ignorance and intolerance. Some atheists, myself included, do practice Buddhism, which is by its nature, atheistic. I don't like to refer to Buddhism as a religion, as uneducated knuckleheads think that means we worship Buddha.

there are a bunch of nonbelievers out their but most just don't care about religion and just live their life. yet atheists waste their time trying to disprove God. atheists are religion haters. they shouldn't care about religion if they believe they are just going to die and rot in the ground

They are "non-believers". Some do hate religion, as well. Some are part of a religion (Buddhists and Satanists are atheists). It's all very individual.

They're non-believers. Those who are opposed to religion are antitheists. It's not a religion.
