I would have gone for husky because of beauty and stamina but between a Rott and a German it's a tough decision.
I had a rott/husky mix who was very very protective and caring.
He saved me when I was little from falling off a porch.

Never a husky. They howl, not bark. IMHO I had the best results with stray dogs. When you adopt a middle age one, they tend to protect you and guard your house like hell. I have 5 dogs, one a collie/german mix the other a labrator/great danish mix. The first one is about 5 years old, the other one almost 1 year. They both managed to harm and stopped 2 burglars from getting inside my house.

Hands down, the Fila Braseilero. There is not a finer protector that needs no training in the world.

I would say Rottie or German Shepard, but I would certainly do my research on each.
