I used to find that ALL the time. I was the 'counsellor' of the group. Problem is, once you are too nice and giving to people, you can attract the types that always have problems. These kind of people are the ones that will always ask you for advice, but tend to be very self-absorbed. So when you need advice, they don't want to hear it!

I think you need to try and make some new friends who will give you a little bit more support, even if you keep your old ones

:-)

I feel like that every day of my life. Your always there to help them and give advice but when you need it they don't seem to know what to do. It's just something you have to work through, true friends will come around and when you need help the most they'll be their for you.

That unfortunately is when you find out who your "real" friends are. There is an occasional excuse that is possible, but on a whole, they are not a true friend. A lot of people are just plain selfish and only can see, or have sympathy, for themselves. You find out who you can depend on, the rest are just associates.

I try to be there for my friends and yes I've been where your at and I sure it happens to everybody. You sound like a really good friend. Don't take it personally ... stay sweet and continue to make new friends but keep the old! Good Luck!

Its not just you as others here have pointed out, I just try and see the good in everyone, sooner or later someone will do the same for me.

Again, I'm NOT the 1st person here to say "Its at times of need you discover who your friends are".

i've always had that problem in my life, and then when i was 25 i had a nervous breakdown that seriously effected my life & health. i soon found out who my true friends were. i've now mostly recovered from my health problems, and i've learnt a valuable lesson - make sure u know who your real friends are, and don't let people use you. i've now only got 3 people who i can truly call 'friends', but i'm a lot happier having just a few true friends than i was having loads of people who were only my friend when it suited them.

In the real world friends are suposed to be there threw thick and thin so if your friends are not even there for you why are you friends. if you are always there for then and when you need them it is a cold sholder you should not be friends
Best of luck to you

Yes, I have. I had a friend in 3rd - 5th grade. I always helped her with stuff in her personal life and school. But, in 6th grade, my dad abused me and she found out about it. I trusted her not to say anything but, she told the hole school and me and my mom had to move and change our names.
