It appears that everyone thinks that they have the answers to questions that are beyond all of our understanding(s). If you seek revelation to a question than take it to the source...God in prayer.
We all need to realize that by giving our own position on how the bible or what Jesus said is to only add confusion to some of the already confused! Seroiusly, as long as we are loving God un-conditionally, and giving Him reverence, does it matter what name we call Him by. This is so alarming. Some of us are so busy arguing the who, whats, whens, and what did the Book (whichever one you read) was really saying, that Heaven is passing us right by. Spend more time loving, caring, and showing respect to one another, then you will find that you are not so worried about your place in Heaven.
Who is Jesus? One thing that I do feel is that Jesus is of God...as we all are. Did he proclaim to be God? People unless he SAID, I AM GOD, YOUR CREATOR, please don't attempt to spread the fact that he implied it. Implications by suggestion is not a fact. The carnal human mind is the only that is capable of so much confusion. God is of peace and harmony, where all of his children are of ONE accord.
Go back to your basics - Thou shall not serve any other God outside of Me. Period.
Do you think God is as simple as us? Christians, do we not believe that all things are pre-destined? Who are you? Abraham could not even stand the light that shone from the magnificance of God. The people of Israel trembled when He spoke. Now all of a sudden, He is walking the earth to show the Greatness of Himself? Remember, He is not a Man that He should boast.
Get over it. We all will stand before God, and Jesus says that he will be on his right side. Jesus went to prepare a place for you, not to assist in judging you. Jesus himself could only give us hints as to when that Day would come. For only the Father knows of that time. Do you think Jesus possesed a split personality? One day he remembered he was God, and the next he was your brother telling you of the Glory of God - himself? I'm confused. Remember, God does not boast.
Bottom line, people say that Jesus is God because of 1.) That's what they were taught, 2.) The norm(those who they associate with) say so, 3.) They don't really like confrontation, 4.) It's more comforting to know that whenever you feel the need to do a little sinning, it feels real good to know that you can easily repent by calling the name of Jesus and all your sins be forgiven.
Food for thought... why must we all stand on judgment day (Christians) for all our sins to be accounted for, if they are supposedly washed in a river of forgiveness? At the end of it all - the life you've lived will determine if you enter the Kingdom of God. Not what you believed in, but your heart intententions.

Isaiah 9:6 tells us that the Son was given and the child was born. Jesus was always a part of the Tri-unity relationship along with the Holy Spirit. The Tri-unity always existed, the Father God, the Son God, and the Spirit God. Not three Gods, but one God existing as three persons. Jesus taught that He and His Father were one (John 10:30). Jesus meant that He and His Father, and of course the Holy Spirit, were of the same substance, the same essence, God or deity. Three co-equal persons existing as God. These three had and continue to have an eternal relationship.
here is a small piece of info, you can research the rest if you truly are interested....but maybe you are just trying to find contradiction. But in most cases, it has just been interpeted wrong.

Because Jesus said "He that has seen me has seen the Father." John 14:9. Also read Revelation chapter one.
Jesus said "Before Abraham was, I am." That was not the same as saying "I exist;" He was saying he is the eternal.
If Jesus was not the Father, why didn't he just show Philip when he said, "Show us the Father"???
The Father is not a "part" of God, but the Father is who God is and what He is; the egg is not a good example of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit being one God. A light bulb is a better example. There is the power source, the bulb, and the light that comes from the bulb. The light doesn't exist without a power source, but you can't see the power, you can only see the bulb and the effect of the light.

We Christians believe that Jesus is God because we read the ENTIRE Bible to know the truth about Jesus. We don't use your perverted way of taking one verse here, one verse there, and then claim that the Bible does not teach the truth about Jesus' deity. None of the challenges you present against the deity of Jesus can withstand even a layman scrutiny of the verse. Critics have been hitting away at Christ's deity since the time Christ began His ministry. And they still are! So what makes you think your argument is anything new?
So for your own sake, read John 8 again and if you still think it denies His deity, how on earth did you pass your English?

Thank you for bringing that up. Honesty in religion is wanting when it should be a given.
We need to review every aspect of the history of all the major religions and address historical accuracy not to destroy them but to make sure that they deliver the original message intended by their first messengers. I do not believe that this is what has happened over the years.
I believe what we have today is very distorted, even tragic.
Some people will do almost anything to get conversions and hold to their institutions. Those institutions represent a huge investment both financially, in peoples careers and reputations to just scratch the surface.
Settle for no less than the whole truth.
Peace.

The bible says a lot of things about who jesus is.
clearly when jesus said "i am" he caused a lot of anger among the jews.
the jews accused him of blasphemy for saying that he is the son of god.
But Isaiah clearly calls him Immanuel and Emanuel, and it is translated as "god" with us.
But my favorite verse is Rev 3:21 and 21:7.
in this verse jesus clearly says HE will our God and our FATHER and on top of that He promises that those who OVERCOME all things will sit in the throne of God (i.e. maybe there are more than one throne).
it is a promise that declares that the children of men have the power to become sons of God and the sons of God can become part of the Godhead.
These are only a few answers that the bible says He is God as there are others too.

C'mon, Kimo - you "proof text" like a bloody Protestant. Keep reading. Look at the context. Further on, same chapter...Jesus says in 8:58 - "Before Abraham was, I AM" - invoking the very name that God used for Himself from the burning bush on Mt. Sinai.
The Jews standing around sure knew what He meant!! The "took up stones" to kill Him because he claimed the Divine Name for himself!

Essentially it relates to the Trinity
God is seen as being composed of god the father, god the son, and the holy spirit.
Jesus is seen as god the son, he was born from god the father to the virgin Mary.
So it is like a demigod.. but Jesus died went to hell and freed those bound in hell for thier sins, then returned to the earth and finally ascended to heaven, to be with god the father.
Jesus is god incarnate. There is more to it then that. But we who are in union with god and free of sin are like angels, the will of god. Where humans are seen as being in communion with the god via the holy spirit, which we can communicate with god the father through. It was via the holy spirit that mary consumated Jesus and Jesus was thus the communication of god - or the messiah.
There is more to it then that, but that is a basic explaination

God is a triune (3 part) Godhead. The Father The Son The Holy Spirit.
When Christ spoke these words he was living as a mortal human but still retained his Divine authority.
The Trinity isn't easy to conceptualize because as humans we tend to be only one person

Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are called the Godhead. They are unified in purpose. Each has an important assignment in the plan of salvation. Our Heavenly Father is our Father and ruler. Jesus Christ is our Savior. The Holy Ghost is the revealer and testifier of all truth.
