Why do some people do not return a smile back?

Question

I have this habbit of giving a simle to any one I meet first time, I get it in return at times but there r certain ppl who just remain flat faced.....as if they have some indigestion problem

yeah and I believe that those people do not realize the medicinal properties of a smile. As they are free, I continue to give smiles away every day and if they do not give one back its ok. The rule is not to get one back for everyone you give but merely to give them away. I have never ran out of stock on smiles or paid for one. On the other hand I can remember time after time that receiving a smile back gave me an energy and enthusiam making me feel really good. For free that is a bargain. Keep giving them away because that is what they are for.

Its not that they dont wanna smile sometimes but some people are just really shy and when people smile at them they sometimes think that your laughing at them or they'r just so nervous and unsure of what to do they forget to smile.
But yes i do know what you mean, at times when i smile at ppl they dont smile back but i try to think that its because they'r having a really bad day or something. Dont let that stop you from sharing that smile with others coz u just never know when u will make somebody's day

Some people may not be as comfortable with themselves as you may feel. Others may be uncomfortable with sharing their emotions with others they have just barley meet. Or some people just don't enjoy smiling. You should never judge a book by its cover you don't what others may be going through. Until you have the nerve to ask how they are really doing then you should not base who they may be because they don't smile back at you :)!!!

I don't smile back because I don't feel the need to. I only smile if its family or friends

You sound sweet! I like smiley people. Often, people will smile back at you. People who don't are either having a very bad day or are just the kind of people you don't need to be wasting your time with!

well i understand u men, this world it's so hard that may costs 2 smile about, or they have a neglected set of teeths lol, don't be afraid, everyone is a world, if everyone was an exact clone of u, even u'll get bored, but im glad that in the world still be people who smile, perhaps of all

yeah i always smile at people as well, and more often they dont smile back, but maybe thats the way they are, are there havin a bad day, there could be many reasons for it are they could be just rude, anyway dont let these people put you off smiling cos if you smiled at me it would make my day, i like to see people smile it makes me feel happy, keep smiling x

i do that too - it's really strange when you go to somewhere else & make eye contact with someone & you smile then they don't smile back.

went to aylesbury & it was really nice but felt a bit out of place then noticed it was because people weren't smiling..

don't know why they don't return the smile - just not used to it maybe? x

They have issues. I think people are more unfriendly than ever. Sometimes i find that if you smile at someone they think you are crazy. But im going to keep on smiling, i know im better for it and at least i don t have issues.

Yeah same here. It just depends on what mood the person is in when you meet them and what kind of personality they have. That is really all. You can't change that, you just have to get them comfortable and in a good mood. Sounds hard, but it works.
