Sometimes when I try to scan something from my scanner it tells me to refer to the trouble shoot documents. What does this mean?

Troubleshooting is a term used in the computer industry that means "trying to figure out the problem". Online troubleshooting guides will ask common questions to try to narrow down your problem and provide an answer

Mauals with troubleshooting guides are usually a listing of common errors or problem and the answer to fix them.

You should look in the manual that came with your scanner for the section on troubleshooting. (usually found toward the end of the manual).

. If you repeat the scan request and it works its just the driver that didnt "wake up" your scanner quick enough. (OK that is an over simplification) Since you say this is a sometimes issue you may be able to get new updated software which will correct the issue. Visit the scanner manufactures website and see if they have new software for you. That may be all you need.

If you are not running a fairly recent operating system you may find that updating your OS will solve the issue. If you are still running Windows 98 or ME then certainly you will have USB and scanning issues on occassion.
