MOST GMs --> tun on the ignition but do not start the car. Depress the accelerator pedal fully until the light goes out. Some GMs (earlier) require you to depress the accelerator pedal 3 times in short succession.
Correction - My GF informs me her car 2001 Alero requires you to go into the fuse panel (on the drivers side of the instrument panel with the door open) - there is a reset button - turn the ignition on with the car not running (don't start the car) and hold the button until the change oil light flashes and then release the button. Done.

Some of the cars reset if you turn the key to the "run" position with the engine off and then depress the gas pedal to the floor three times in five seconds. Then the change oil light should flash to let you know its reset. Others reset by pulling the fuse panel cover on the drivers side of the dash and looking for a red button marked "reset". If you have that button then you turn the key to "run" with the engine off and push the button and release...then the change oil light will flash at you and then you push the button again and hold it down until the light flashes or chimes sound. Yet other GM's reset by a procedure using the display in your radio. If your radio is marked "R D S" on the front then there is a different procedure that has several steps as well.
The best way is to get out your owners manual and see what the particulars are for your car. If you don't have an owners manual then I hope one of the above ideas will work for you, those are the three most popular I know.

Im not sure. nice car... more stupid BMW engineering to make life miserable to anyone avoiding the $130 oil change at the dealer. Try taking the Negative battery cable off for about a minute then hooking it back up. Cutting the power usually resets everything on most cars. Good luck! Maybe someone else will have the correct answer.

Remove the drivers side fuse panel and depress the reset button with the ignition turned on, motor off until the oil change light is on steady. Then just hold the button in until the warning light blinks or goes off. Good luck.

You can simply reset your warning or hazard lights on these newer models by unplugging your battery cables. Always worked for me on my 2001.

It sounds funny but on GM cars you have to set the key to igntion, not start, press the accelerator four times to the ground and start the car afterward, this clears the light.
