The US military does not charge our own soldiers for committing 'war crimes.' Since it is impossible to for a US soldier to commit a war crime without also violating a section of the UCMJ - we charge that soldier with 'assault,' 'rape' 'murder' etc.

we also do not make any distinction as to whether the victim was an enemy prisoner, a civilian or another soldier. As far as we are concerned a crime is a crime.

If necessary. But only if necessary.

Military tribunals arose from the difficulties of logistics during earlier centuries, when it was impossible to bring offenders to the courts for trial. No such obstacle applies here.

If the war crimes are committed by US troops, then they should be brought back for court martial. If they are committed by other individuals, then they should be brought back for criminal trials.

All is fair in Love in War.

I dont see how you can have War Crimes, you have two groups of people trying to wipe eachother off the planet; but if your too cruel trying to kill your enemy, somehow your doing something wrong?

No. It is never OK execute anyone. I know, I know some crimes are just too awful. I think that too many mistakes have been made where innocent people have been given the death penalty. It feels good when you feel that justice has been served, as when Tim McVey was executed; but, what about the mistakes?

You would have to give a specific situation. If it is for murder, I would rather see them just spend the rest of their life in prison.
