i've heard 900, 1000, 1200, 2000, and 2500. ok. which one is it? if u know, plzz help!

If there was really a "starvation mode" and cutting calories was bad for you, then the lap-band and gastric bypass surgery wouldn't work. But it does. Cutting calories will make you lose weight. You need to find the level that works best for you. For me, I will not lose weight if I eat more than 1200. I lose the most when I stick around 1000.

It depends somewhat on what your calorie needs are. For example, it wouldn't be the same for a 300 lb guy with extra body fat stores as it would be for an 85 lb grandma.

Its pretty tough to get all the nutrients you need in a day on less than 1200 kcal, so I would recommend not going below that.

doesn't matter what you heard. its like a fingerprint. its different for everyone. depends on your life style, active? inactive? depend on your size, weight and fat content.
depends on what your health goals are...a bodybuilder takes in around 4000-5000 cals a day just to hold onto all that muscle. but I guess if you have to have a number I would say 2000-2500 on average..
