The amount of calcium actually taken in will vary from one individual to another, depending on diet and eating habits. If what you are really asking is "What is the daily recommended amount of calcium?", then the answer is for infants to 6 months old: 210mg/day; infants 7 months to 12 months: 270mg/day; 1-3 years: 500mg/day; 4-8 yrs.: 800mg/day; 9-18 yrs.: 1300mg/day; For both men & women 19-50 yrs.: 1000mg/day. For 50 and up: 1200mg/day. For pregnant and lactating women: 1300mg/day up to age 18; 1000mg/day for 19 and older.
There are calcium sources other than milk. All dairy products will provide a source. Additional sources are grains, egg yolks, legumes, nuts, broccoli, kale, mustard and turnip greens. And there are always supplements.
If you prefer to get your calcium from milk, one 8 oz glass of whole milk contains approximately 290mg of calicum. I've done most of the work, so you can do the math.

It depends somewhat on age and sex, but between 1000 and 1300 mg per day is the recommended intake for calcium.
An 8 oz glass of 2% milk has approximately 275mg.
Remember that cheese and yogurt are also good sources of calcium, and there are also calcium-fortified foods such as OJ, too.
To avoid osteoporosis later in life, make sure your calcium intake is adequate, particularly in your teens and 20's.

1000mg-1500mg of calcium daily. That is 3 servings of dairy products. It could be 3 glasses of milk, or other dairy products, like yogurt or cheese. There are things that contain calcium besides dairy products, soy milk, some dark green vegetables. You can take supplements is you can't or do not want to eat dairy products.

So far you have all good answers.
Lots of calcium can be extracted from common food so any supplement that you take should be completely water soluble so any left over is excreted thru Kidney without, residue(Kidney stone problem).
