Free will dictates that we can choose to adhere to the scriptures or reject them.
I choose to be bound to them, and tightly so.

I do not reject Scripture. I do, however, understand that some are the result of custom, and some have been changed later in Scripture.

Bound, to a point. "Scripture" - taken outside of Holy Tradition and Holy Reason carries little weight. I stand on the shoulders of the Apostolic Fathers (and Mothers) of the faith, and their commentaries and interpretation of Holy Writ need to be taken into account.
Example; St. Thomas Aquinas said to always look to the literal in Scripture, but never discount the allegorical. We need the Tradition of the Church to help us to properly understand such allegories. Scripture, outside of the Tradition of the Church - "sola scriptura" - was never heard of for the first 1,500 years of Christendom.

Protestants don't reject scripture outright. They just interpret it in such a way as to make it fall into line with their beliefs, and ignore those parts that simply can't be twisted into shape.

Are you kidding???????? Why do you think there are more than 30,000 Protestant churches in the world? They've ALL taken liberty to give Scripture their own interpretation! If they were all under the guidance of the Holy spirit as they claim, they would all be one -- not 30,000! Truth is one -- is it not??? Truth cannot be whatever you want it to be.

Considering the fact that we really only have 2 "official" Shinto documents, we can really do whatever the hell we please, such as linking up with 2 or more other religions. Most people who practice Shinto actually follow Buddhist ideals, Confucianist ideals, and Taoist ideas as well. o.o;

the book is very clear....those that think you can change it, and allow you church to change it to fit their needs or "modern times".....read the BOOK.
Deuteronomy 12:32
“Whatever I command you, be careful to observe it; you shall not add to it nor take away from it."
Revelation 22:18-19
I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

No. In Hinduism you are taught to explore for yourself rather than just blindly accept and follow.
