Contrary to popular belief, being itchy does not necessarily mean that the wound is healing. The itchy-ness is caused by the release of histamines. Most of the time, histamine release is simply a signal that your body has found something that it doesn't want there (histamines are the what causes the symptoms of allergies, it recognizes the allergens and sends the signal that the body should get rid of them). The positive is that the histamine release signals that the body has recognized the issue and is sending more white blood cells to take care of it. So, indirectly, yes, it should be healing. It is theorhetically possible for your wound to itch but not heal properly, but that is rare. The best thing to do is to apply a first aid ointment like neosporin and cover with a band-aid or gauze pad. If you start feeling sick in any other way (which I repeat, is rare, unless you cut your self with something that could cause another illness), contact a physician. Particularly, if you used a metal blade, make sure that you are up to date on your tetanus booster. Otherwise, contact your physician.
On a side note, cutting yourself increases the risks of infection due to the repeated nature of the incidents. I urge you to contact a family member, counselor, close friend, or someone else you can trust about this.

your cuts itch because they are healing, look at the cuts and if there is any red discoloration of the skin you are not keeping them clean enough. Clean your wounds once or twice a day if they look infected (red skin) with peroxide and antibacterial soap and dont pick at them. Good for you in recovering from cutting I went through it too and havent cut in over 2 years!

it usually means that they are healing. As the wouns closes the skin cells around the wound start to slough off to maake way for new tissue. This causes the skin to dry a little at the edges as it tightens up and feels itchy.Dont cut yourself anymore child..it does you no good. There must be another way to vent your frustrations

Scratch itch when they are healing. Do not scratch them otherwise you could open up the wound.
It's the human body fascinating?
