Well, it isn't really right but totally understandable. Yes, go ahead and enjoy yourself, BUT don't over do it. If you really must have some of that potato salad-take a tablespoon of it. Take a taste of what you want, a small small portion, but don't go overboard. And remember that tomorrow you are back on the eating less team.
I have decided that the word "diet" is depressing. I no longer diet, I now call it-changing my eating choices. No diet for me. Symantics means alot. When someone hears you are on a diet it seems they need to tell you how to do it or why it won't work. So, I no longer say it. If my family or friends notice my food choices, I simply say that I am trying new things and changing my eating choices!! So far it is working great. I am losing weight and not sacrificing-I am choosing to change my... See. Good luck to you. Enjoy your company.

You should not refer to your healthy food choices as dieting. Diet is looked at in a negative way. You are eating healthy in order to have a good life.
The people who are the most successful in managing what they eat are the ones that are allowed a "treat" now and then.
I eat healthy most of the time, and exercise daily (cannot say I love it, I just do it to be healthy and happy.) I do "allow" myself to have a day off of the usual eating choices at least once a week. This enables me to not feel "deprived" of anything.
Last Saturday evening and Sunday I got to spend some time with a group of my girlfriends that I haven't seen since Christmas time and we all had desserts and candy and homemade baked french toast and real maple syrup and some wine.
Then Monday we were all back to our usual eating and exercising and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
I refuse to eliminate anything from my eating plan, except for trans fats and a lot of unnecessary additives, other than that I will have a small amount of the things that I like. You have to train yourself that you can always have more of something, and most of the time you will not really want more.
Enjoy the night with your family, sounds like fun.

absolutely- You are eating grilled foods so it wont be as bad as the dominos I had for lunch today! lol. Seriously though weight gain doesnt happen overnight just like weight loss. If you are eating a few hundred extra calories today be good the rest of the week to make up for it and you wont even see a difference.

You don't have to cheat. Have a chicken breast, a piece of corn or a small potato, and a salad. Plenty of food, and you don't have to feel left out. Just lay off the snack foods and bread. Make a pitcher of Crystal Light lemonade, and keep a glass in your hand at all times. When you feel like snacking,,,just drink the lemonade.

It depends on what diet are you, and what exactly are you eating extra.
However, in general, I would say it's ok as long as you don't go overboard. Eat a little bit more, but not much.

If you are diabetic no it is not.
Social situations, holidays, meals with friends, are the most stressful situations. You have to be strong, be prepared to
focus on what is important to you, not worrying about
what others might think because you do or do not want
to eat.
