I live in a condo, owned not rented. My neighbor is 70 something. He's hard of hearing yet loves to yell profanities at his tv at any given moment. I've called the cops who say its my property manager's problem, and in turn he tells me he has to have so many reports on file with the police before he has a leg to stand to to confront the neighbor. Keep in mind, I have a puppy and yes, when we leave she whines for about 10 mins, but calms down. The neighbor is using that as his "fire" against us. What can we do? I'm not moving, my condo is paid for, and he rents. Am I wrong for the confrontation? I shouldn't have to hear his profanity while in my own home. Give me your feedback.

It's not poorly built homes. Since last April when we moved in, we have tried the nice approach--"good morning, afternoon, how are you?" He's just not friendly. He told my fiance that I handled it wrong last time by calling the cops so thats why I chose to ring the doorbell this time. He isn't going to run us off. And I agree, he may pass soon, but I can't take the MFing and GDing until then. I'll try to contact his landlord. We do have noise rules for our community, mostly at night. However, if it becomes a problem during the day, the cops should be willing to respond. Thanks for the input from each of you.

Ok so you say you live in a condo right? If this is so you should have a HOA (Home Owners Association), if so you should contact the president or the active management of the HOA. Start a formal complaite with them. If he is a renter, most HOAs hold the owner responsible for who they rent to. The owner then has to fix the problem or he will start getting fines, trust me after the first fine he will either get rid of his tennent or start charging the tennnent the fines.

In any matter that will shut him up.

On a side note, next time you go to buy a condo, look up the owner to renter ratio, the ones that have higer owner ratio is much better because people like you take pride in owning their homes and want to keep them a great enviorment.

Well, if you responded the first time (before ever talking to him) by calling the cops, that was a bad move- he'll be more likely to be hostile in the future. He might even be doing it at this point to be antagonistic.

However, all you can do is keep trying. Try being nice to the guy. I don't think you can be friends at this point but you can be civil. Remind him that he might not be aware of how loud he is, but even so- it's not the decibel level so much as the content. It's just not pleasant to listen to such language all the time- and what if you have children over? Do you ever? You might consider running a video camera on your puppy while you're gone so that you can prove the shortness of the duration of his whining. The puppy will also likely grow out of this habit. (your neighbor won't.)

If any of your other neighbors can hear him you might get their help in this. An allied front will get the manager's attention, whereas one loud complainer might not. You also might consider putting up a better insulation in the walls if you can get permission to do such a thing.

Good luck!

Holy smokes!!! you want to inform the homestead manager about all this happening. that is harassment. Gosh i trust negative for you. She has no correct to attempt this to you. Calling the police received't get you everywhere because she hasn't threatened you with violence. She desires to be kicked out of that homestead. She is freaking loopy!!! you also can merely tell her, "yea, you know, you're correct, i'm a sinner going to hell and thanks for helping me" and perhaps which will merely end her all at the same time. She desires to options her own corporation. Coming on your door and screaming Bible rates at you is actual over the line! call the homestead manager on Monday!!!

I feel sorry for you both, that you live in such poorly built housing that you can hear your neighbor speak loudly to his television, and he can hear a puppy whine. Install some insulation, or some other sound barrier. There are quite a lot of good products on the market.

I suggest talking to the person he rents off of. I use to work for an apartment building and we had a clause in our lease stating no loud noise. If there is something in his lease, maybe his landlord would consider helping you with the problem.

Call the cops and tell them that you hear your neighbor beating his wife. After all, you can't always make out what he is saying. All you hear is yelling.. and by the sound of it, it could very well be an abusive situation taking place.

Tell the landlord you think he is a danger to himself, or others as he has confronted you.....may want to have the police take him in for mental health observation...that should cure it.

Turn on a radio when you leave, so it'll drown out the puppy and bang on the floor/wall when he swears to get his attention!
Pray for peace/resolution!

tell him nicely that he shouldn't shout anymore cause you can hear him. maybe he doesn't even realize it (since he's almost deaph). and if it doesn't work i suggest you should make as much noise as you possibly can especially when he's watching tv so he won't be able to enjoy his shows

Do a recording of profanities and blare it at his condo whenever you so wish.
