Does your son seem to have a speech delay? It could be a condition called apraxia - dribbling is a very common thing that goes along with it. My younger son has this condition and after speech therapy, he has stopped doing this as much. Apraxia is something kids can overcome with therapy. The cause of the dribbling are muscles in the mouth that are not completely developed.
Talk to your pediatrician about it. They can request that an evaluation be done. Good luck to you and your son!

As previously stated, oftentimes excessive drooling is a symptom of a speech delay.
Given your son's age, if his two-year molars are coming in this may be the cause. However, if they are already present, you may consider the following:
Some things a speech therapist would do/recommend would be to have the child drink from a very short straw (so that no more than a half inch can get into the mouth) to strengthen his oral motor function (muscles in the mouth) also, give him chew toys...not the dog kind, but speech therapists have special shaped/scented ones.
I have an almost 4 year old in my daycare who drools still. I have recommend a speech eval for him, because even though he speaks, it isn't easily understood, nor does he enunciate well.
When I see him drooling, I remind him to swallow. I draw his attention to it because he doesn't seem to notice or care that his chin is sopping wet...which may be an sensory issue...but I figure if I draw his attention to it, perhaps after some time he'll begin to realize it on his own.
Your son is still quite young, and you could try self correcting (such as the reminding to swallow and use of a straw) for several months, and see if you notice a difference. If by 2 1/2 or so there is not marked improvement, and his speech has not increased dramatically, I would recommend a developmental screening...there may be a Child Development Services in your area that can do this at no cost to you.
Best of luck to you and your family!

It could be one of many problems.
Teething
Muscle tone problems and sensory issues which will cause delayed speach and at two he should be talking at least a little.
Over active glands.
Ear infections
Teeth hurting in some way besides teething such as an absessed cavity.
It is hard to tell unless you go to the doctor about it. I would start with the pediatricion on this one.

Why do you not believe this has to do with teething? It could very easily be beacuse of that, you are are not aware of what is going on in his mouth. it could aslo be, that he has learnt he can make bubbles etc..a great thing for a preschooler to leanr!..gives them lots of fun and amusment thru-out the day. I would'nt worry about it..he is only 2..it is not a "problem"..just a 2 year old being a 2 two year old!..(remember they are not little adults who will act like us..they will and have to do many things that may not make sense to you..but it does to them)
unless of course there are other delays in his speech etc..but just becasue he is dribbling etc..is not a worry.

My son has a speech delay, and is constantly drooling(he is 30months right now) He has to go to a special school for it. Have his adnoids, and tonsils checked, along with the feeling in lower lip.
If your child is not talking as he should, then I definately recommend getting an evaluation from a speech pathologist.
BTW for any reason have had to take medication while you pregnant with him? I was on inderal for migraines(doctor never told me the side effects it would have on my child, and i was on it for one month).

i do no longer think of so. i've got seen youthful little ones donning wrestling dresses till now. My nephew replaced into 3 years previous whilst he started staring at wrestling mutually and one in each of his first shirts replaced into an NWO shirt. the key's to in basic terms watch the shows along with your newborn and if issues get too grownup for him, in simple terms turn it off. You sound such as you enormously plenty have that under administration nevertheless. enable your son be a individual and placed on what he needs and prefer who he needs. i does no longer complication approximately what all and sundry else says. he's your son and apparently such as you're doing each little thing authentic. I heavily doubt that he's going to teach right into a antisocial in simple terms because of the fact of a shirt he wears as a newborn.

If he breathes loud and snores as well, it could be the tonsils and adnenoids, My child went through that and the Drs, gave her meds, after meds, until she was four, all the drooling, loud breathing, and snoring, Of course I had to learn how to sleep again as the nights were very quiet,(lol) I kept getting up and checking on her.

I think your 2 year old son has a medical problem which should be seen to by a Doctor. This is not normal.
