is 5 mega pixels good?

and what feature should I be looking for if I want a camera that can take good action shots?

I'm looking into buying a Canon A530, does that camera have color accent?

thanks for the help!

5 MP is enough if you do not want to print at high quality much bigger than 8x10 in. or so. And if you do not intend to do a lot of cropping out small portions of a pic to make a new pic.

Action shots require:

. Fast performance - short cycle time between shots and short shutter lag. Read the specs and buy accordingly.

. Shutter Speed adjustment - get a camera with Manual and/or Shutter Priority mode.

. Max shutter speed of at least 1/1000 sec. More is better.

. Fast Autofocus, especially with moving objects

. Fast Burst mode - at least 2 frames per second, with many total frames and fast buffer clearing.

. Low noise at higher ISO

. High telephoto zoom - 300 mm or more.

D-SLR cameras are best for speed and low noise, but the better digicams are pretty good too. The d-SLR's and their lenses are significantly more expensive.

Most Canon digicams have the color accent feature.

Good Luck

5 Mega is normal nothing fancy. If you plan to print large go wikth a bigger megapix. that Canon is perfect! Your on the right track you may want to invest in a DSLR. Im not sure on the color accent of that camera.
