Christians do you not believe that the Bible is the word of God revealed to men over time? And Muslims, do you not believe the Qurʾān to be the word of God that was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad?
God could have used an Egyptian, where there were scribes and papyrus and means of preserving texts. Instead, by revealling different truths to different, mostly nomadic, people at different times, confusion and disagreement seem to have arisen.
So my question is this. Why didn't God just use one messenger?

Much as I appreciate the answers so far, where are all the Christians and Muslims?!
Any monotheists care to add their view please?
(Apologies to any monotheists who have answered but who I didn't recognise).

And why not every language either? That would have made it undisputed

The bibles of the world are not so much about a God or a heaven but rather are a sociological commentary on the culture from which it came.
The only reason these writting stopped was groups were formed based on the ideas in these different writtings and a religion was established. Once that was done the idea of changing what they believed or adding something new was viewed as a threat to their established religion.
Even assuming for arguements sake that God was trying to send humanity a message through these people the ideas expressed and views of God, Satan, Heaven, Hell would all be based on how the person writting the text would view the world. If the same God would try to convey an idea to someone today the imagery and ways it is expressed would be vastly different because the culture and peoples understanding of the world is vastly different then from back in ancient times.

God didn't "write the Bible". God inspired various writers to write certain things at many points throughout salvation history, in order to meet the specific needs of the people of that specific time. Hundreds of years later the Church Christ founded, the Holy Catholic Church, decided to formally discern which of the many available texts could be identified as divinely inspired, and bound those 73 texts into a book for the first time. That's where the Bible as we know it came from. It was never "a book" until that time.

Hey, he took over 9 centuries and 3 different languages (Aramaic, Hebrew and Koine Greek).
No wonder people get confused over the message. Not to mention he took only 6 days to create the universe (technically 5 days to create earth and 1 to create everything else)

The bible is a cultural anthropolgy of the Jewish, Greek and early Roman times. It is not written by God, but inspired by God, the story of cultural journeys in faith through remembered events, cultural folklore, and parables.

Because the Bible is not of God but man. Why has God not revealed himself to all men?
