and what exercises would i use it for?

The purpose of a wheight belt is to protect your lower back and give it support when you lift heavy wheights. You use it when you lift a heavy barbell to protect you lower back from being thrown out. I am not sure of all the exercizes you use it for but I know that is one of them. I knew a guy who lifted wheights.

it helps you use more muscles without having to use your hands. you wouldn't have to exercise per se, but you could do your normal activities and still get benefits. you can also get ankle and wrist weights to help strengthen your muscles.
