Do you know of any software that can help my computers preformence on start up, that is free? Any free software that you really like? Any free anti-virus or spyware you have found really useful? Anything you have found that people should know about?

Unzip the file with WinRAR , right click of the INF file and click Install. Its really cool.
#2) Another cool software is Dexpot 1.4. It sets up 4 different virtual desktops. So you have 4 different desktops!!! It's really cool.

For Spyware: Using SpyBot and Ad-aware together gets ride of almost all the spyware on your computer.
For Virus protection: Symantec Antivirus is much better that Norton Antivirus (even though they are made by the same company). I'm not sure in Symantec is free. I get it free through my school.

#2 It is very hard to find free software. Lime Wire is a good place to get alot, but if you don't know how to fix virus problems or understand them, don't use Lime Wire. I use Registry Mechanic, it is a GREAT product, keep this in mind, sorry I can't help anymore than that. You can find free software all over the net, but it is limited unless you pay money!

Not only free software but free OS with software included. Check out www.puppylinux.com. Read about it, Download it. Burn it as image to CD, Boot it and play.
It's a live CD, loads to RAM, doesn't need to be installed to your hard drive. It's very close to magic.

You don't need any for start up. Just go into msconfig and stop some of the programs that start automatically.
