and it is sore to touch. It feels like it is under a layer of skin, although it may not be, and is grayish/purplish in color. The coloring kind of looks like a bruise. There is a large reddish ellipse circling it; the bump is left of center. Also, it is firm to touch. It's been there for about three weeks. Please help =]

It is ok, there is nothing wrong. That bump in an ingrown hair. They happen because the friction of your legs rubbing up against each other breaks off a hair below the surface of your skin. When that hair tries to grow again, it grows underneath your skin and becomes infected. It is just like a pimp in that it will go away on its own :)

There are a few possibilities to what you've explained anything from a Spider bite to a few types of melanoma (skin cancer) and no I don't want to scare you but any bumbs you may find that seem to be under the skin it's a good bet to have it checked out by your family physician. I've found that you should always push your physician for an answer. Never accept well it's just a bump it will go away. Make him/her explain to you what exactly the bump is and why it's there. I mean that's why you are paying them right?

Sounds like a boil.

Now you see why Job in the Bible was so miserable! Imagine those ALL OVER your body! Horrors!

Put a sliver of soap (harsh, not "beauty bars" or anything) on a band-aid, and put that over the bump. Leave it on for several hours, preferably overnight. That should bring it to a "head", and it will be easier to pop, or you can let it pop on its own.

You can go to the doc and get it lanced if you're a p*ssy, but my grandpa told me about the soap trick, and it works on mine.

It could be an ingrown hair. Put a warm wash cloth on it and hold it there several times a day, that should help ease the pain and make it better. If it doesn't see a doctor just to be on the safe side.

Sounds to me like a staph infection. What you should do is go to your doctor. They can tell you for sure what it is. If it is a staph, what you should do is put a hot rag over it and then try to "pop" it. but dont force it. Then tell the dr and they might even try to drain it if its big enough. (Sorry to say but it hurts like hell) Then they will give you some medicine. Get it checked out asap because if left alone for long enough Staph is very bad, it is also very contageous, so make sure you are very careful.

I know its a painful thing to have but once you have it you are more prone to getting it. Trust me, I have had more than one. Its not fun.

I have had little cysts/boils in the same spot, and it is exactly how you describe. I think they happen from ingrown hairs, seams on your clothes rubbing and something getting infected, who knows. You could try what the answerer "me =)" said, if that is what it is, her advice will help. If it doesn't help, off to the doctor!
