Let me start out by suggesting that you don't get him something that will just end up in his drawer and never seen after his birthday. Some guys may disagree with me, but those kinds of gifts are nice, but so are useful gifts.
I would suggest that you buy him something that he can use. Something that will help him enjoy his spare time. It's even better if it's something that you two can enjoy when you are together. Think of things he likes to do, and things that you like to do together. Then get something that will go along with that.
For his actual birthday the best gift would probably be just being able to do something to spend time with you rather than some gift.

Dpends. if its a very specail occasion, get him something both of you guys would like to share together to make ur relationship grow. if you are just doing it for no reason, you might want to get him a game or maybe just show him how much u apriciate him by taking HIM out to dinner. the guys apreciate that because there always the drivers and they always pay, its time for a change i guess.

i know it is tottaly hard to shop for guys-well first things first what are his intrests? ask him what he would like?other wise you can never go wrong with a gift card(which may look a little cheesy) but with out knowing what his style is or his intrests it is a little hard to help you!! sorry i didn't help too much!

You can't go wrong with Gift Cards from somewhere you know he likes.
Also, try Wallets, CD's, DVD's, etc.

shirts, cds, cologne, I got my b/f boxers for Christmas and he loved them. then 4 his birthday i gave him a tie blanket that i made for him and i sprayed it with my perfume and i also gave him a pic. of me from homcoming and put it in a pic. frame that i painted!
