I would have to say the 6 foot putt he made to force a play-off in the 2000 PGA championship. If he missed it he would have lost, but he made it and went on to win in a play-off.

Some people say his greatest clutch shot he hit was the 30 foot putt he made on the 17th hole of the 1996 US Amatuer final to tie the match. I never saw that so I don't know much about the importance of that putt.

The first thought that came to my mind, before I read the details of your question, was his six foot putt in the 2000 PGA Championship. Great minds travel in the same path!

Three come to mind right away:

1. The chip in on #16 during the final round of the 05' Masters Tournament which he ultimately needed to force a playoff with Chris DiMarco following bogeys by Tiger at #17 & #18. Tiger then went on to win the playoff with a birdie on the first playoff hole (#18).

2. The putt on #18 during the final round of the 2000 PGA Championship forced a playoff with Scott May and kept alive Tiger's quest to win 4 majors in a row.

3. The 6-iron from the fairway bunker on #18 during the final round of the 2000 Canadian Open. It carried 216 yards over water and sealed the victory against Grant Waite.

The putt you mentioned that Tiger made on the 17th hole of the 1996 US Amatuer at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club was against Steve Scott. It was significant because Tiger was on a mission to become the first golfer to win 3 consecutive US Ams. He had been trailing S. Scott for most of the day, but that putt brought him even and Tiger then went on to win the tourney in a playoff. Those 3 victories, coupled with his 3 consecutive US Jr. Amatuer Championships, arguably makes Tiger the greatest amatuer player in history -- the only thing that compares to it is Bobby Jones Grand Slam in 1930 when he won both the US and British Opens and Ams.

The best shot that I have ever seen Tiger play was in 2005 at the Tour Championship. On one of the opening par 4's, he was in the woods right behind a small tree about 130 yards from the green. He hit a wedge and right after he had made contact with the ball, he let go of the club so that when it hit the tree in front of him the club wouldn't break and he wouldn't hurt himself. Not only was it amazing, he stuck it about 5 feet from the whole and drained the birdie putt. Who needs driving accuracy with a short game like that?

I think at the 17th hole Par 3 at the Masters when he went thru the green flopped a shot high onto the green and it trickled down sat on the edge and dropped in pure magic .He went on to win the Major .

Well it wasnt clutch but it was an amazing boost in his career when he holed the 16 at scottsdale. The most clutch was in the canadian open i think that was the 6th or was it a 6 iron? Where he was in a fairway bunker 216 away

i do not remember the tournement but i think it was a recent major. It was the long put where the ball took a break on the lip then droped into the hole.
