As the Prophet Ezechiel said, "the Lord brought me back to the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary, which looked towards the east: and it was shut. And the Lord said to me: This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall pass through it: because the Lord the God of Israel hath entered in by it, and it shall be shut".

Yes, Mary was a virgin until the purification for giving birth had past.
They went to the temple to offer up the 2 turtle doves as required by the law covenant and there they had met the Prophetess Anna, sometime after that Mary and Joseph are recorded as having other son’s and daughters.
Considering this fact, Mary could not have given birth to other children and remain a virgin.

Well---it's not as if this "virgin birth" legend was an original one with the "godman" Christ---It was "believed" to have happened in many previous religions--Here are some of the other "virgin births"-Mithras, Dionysus,Horus--etc--check out this link to give you the list of previous "virgin birhs"--:]http://www.medmalexperts.com/POCM/pagan_christs_mithras.html

I would think the vast majority, if not all christians believe this, or they wouldn't be christians in the first place.

edit:
Her physical virginity (the hymen) would not have remained intact during birth.

Birth is not sex. She was still a virgin in that she still had not had sex.
