Well, in 2006 i had 5 jobs. I moved around a lot because of finding out that i was pregnant. Well i delivered my daughter in December. Everyone has been telling me that i can claim her on my taxes when i file this year because in all aspects she WAS depending on me lastyear.. in every way.. but because i was carrying her. But i still havent received ANY w2 forms and i have contacted all of the employers and corporate offices (they were all fast food jobs) to give them my FINAL address, and still NOTHING. So i am affraid that by time i get them all, and get them turned in... it will be too late.

So. my question is; can i claim my daughter on this years tax returns, and if so; what tax papers would i use?

Any replies would be of some help.

Thank you,
Sharon

You'll need to somehow get records of your earnings before you can file. If you don't have W-2's yet, contact those employers to see what happened to them - it sounds like somehow your address changes didn't catch up with the paperwork.

If you have tax liability and you meet the rules for claiming your daughter and it sounds like you will, then you'll still be able to claim her - it won't be too late for another 3 years, so quit worrying about that. And by the way, you can claim her not because you were carrying her in 2006, but because she was born before the end of the year.

If you have no tax liability, then claiming her wouldn't save you any taxes, since claiming a dependent only reduces your taxes, and if yours were already at zero, there would be nothing to reduce.

If you still can't get your W-2's after contacting the employers, call the IRS.

You'll file a 1040A, since you can't claim a dependent on a 1040EZ.

Well...I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure you have 3 years to file your return and request a refund.

You need to call the IRS to get assistance with the W-2 issue.

They are telling you that you can't file because you don't have any income....once you get the W-2's, you should be fine.

Don't bother setting up an appt. to file if you don't have your W-2s. Call the IRS for assistance. 800-829-1040

sounds like there is more to this story. being able to claim your daughter has nothing to do with receiving your W-2's or not working at all.
