You don't say how old you are or what your reading level is. Best thing to do would be to go to your library and talk to the librarian there. Explain what you are looking for and what your interests are. Also, see if they have an ESL section. Now, that might sound funny, but a lot of ESL stuff is aimed at older people but with simplified English. There are whole series of books which been shortened for the ESL reader. It would give you a chance to be exposed to some higher-level things while not being too challenged.

A good way to improve your reading is to check out a book and an audio book of the same title. Read along while listening.

Reading along with someone else sometimes help. Look for a book with and unabridged cd. Harry Potter is pretty good, here is a web site with a man who will email you a story each week. They are books that are easy to check out in the local library.

It does not matter how old you are. What matters is what reading level you are at. If you are in school, ask your teacher what your Verified Reading Level is. If S/he doesn't know, tell them you want them to take a Running Record while you read so that they can calculate your level. Take this level to your local library and have a librarian assist you in finding books in your verified level. Good luck. I think it is wonderful that you are taking an interest in reading.

Could we have your age range and some books you've read?... I mean I don't know if I should be saying "The Little Engine That Could" or something a bit more advanced.

I agree with glurpy...go talk to your local librarian. They have tons of knowledge and lots of databases they can access. A great librarian is the best resource out there. Give it a try!
