Yes. The leadership of Sinn Fein in Ulster, is made up of men who were members of IRA and probably still are.

Ian Paisley still refers to Sinn Fein as Sinn Fein/IRA.

No matter. Sinn Fein is seeking a different route to government and power which is democratic and not through the barrel of a gun and the bomb. Let's hope it works.

The Sinn Fein and the IRA are somewhat the same but they have major differences in how they operate and the level of violence that they find appropriate for the situation they are in.

They are both part of what they call the Republican Movement but 1 is an illegal terrorist group and the other is a political party.

Its illegal to be a member of the IRA but not illegal to be a member of Sinn Fein.

sinn fein is the political voice of the majority of ireland they are also the political voice of the provisional IRA (get it right, PROVISIONAL!) the workers party are the political wing of the official IRA. they say they aren't but they are just a bunch of left wing cowards who done fuc'k all for the peace process in ireland but claim the rewards. are sinn fein and the PROVISIONAL IRA one, no they arent. has the british minister of defence ever served in the military? probably not but he still speaks on behalf of the military.
