Not sure that I can go along with this one. The first thing that comes to mind is that the founding fathers worked hard at setting up the country's approach to religion to be very non-Christian in nature and only approaching a deity in a very nondescript way. The next thing is that yes, missionaries and others forced our western values on the Native Americans. And finally, many of our policies at that time, were not dictated from religious beliefs. I understand what you're getting at, but the slaughter (in many ways) was not as bad as the missionary destruction of the Native American culture. Sigh, we have learned so much since then but have not really learned anything at all.
