I'd like to buy a digital camera, but I plan on using it for videos a lot, so it would need to have good video. Most cameras say something like "640 x 480 - 30FPS", but that doesn't necessarily mean it will look perfect at that resolution, right? I want to be able to burn these videos to a DVD (or maybe just watch on a PC) and have them looking very good. I would also like a decent amount of optical zoom and support for at night-time. I don't want to spend more than maybe €300, although the cheaper, the better.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ignacio, that TX1 looks brilliant. I might get it if I can scrape together the money. I have to buy a new PC first. Also, it comes out at the end of this month in America, but I dunno about Europe, and I live in Ireland.

Canon just came out with a 7.1 megapixel camera that actually shoots HD (1280 x 720) video at 30 FPS.

It's called the TX1 and should be hitting stores soon.

Nicest thing about it? No more tapes!

Hope this helps,

Ignacio

12 minutes is around the max for ALL DSLR cameras, and that's for secure practices purposes. modern DSLR's use CMOS sensors which warmth up while doing video. warmth them up too lots and that they'll basically get broken from the warmth. Now in case you nevertheless desire to pass with a DSLR, you will additionally might desire to purchase some good lenses for recording video, espeically no count if that's indoors. you will maximum in all probability might desire to purchase an exterior mic as properly. maximum folk shoot short scenes, then provide up, permitting time for the digital camera to quiet down before they resume. seem on the Canon T3i over the T2i for video purposes. that's the right comparable digital camera different than it has a swivel reveal screen and a few flash strategies for shooting stills. alongside with that, you additionally can seem on the Nikon D5100 nevertheless, why no longer get a video digital camera for video purposes? they're superior in each way. for an identical fee because of the fact the T2i, you may get a especially great client video digital camera.

You can't have a good camera and a good camcorder in the same unit yet. You will get a compromise in between a good camera and an average camcorder quality.
