You do have a heart wrenching decision but I think you are ready for the move. If you are a Senior and your parents are still making the decisions to buy land or a house it will take time to do just that. It would be good to finish High School in your town and be with your friends. You job you can find a new one in NC, your friends will all be going off to their own lives and making the same decisions as you are now in one way or another. Life is a constant change for most of us. It is hard but it is not insurmountable. You are a senior so you have sent out your college requests most likely already. The mail will follow you. I know it is a hard decision and a tough one but if the time is right for your parents then make the move with them. You just might enjoy the new school, your senior year in the new school, meet new boys and new girl friends in your senior year. Your life may just be enhanced for the better if you believe it will. I suggest you just keep your eye on your goals for this coming year, talk to your parents and find out their time schedule and if it is possible for them to just wait one more year for your graduation. They can buy the land and build in that year, and let you graduate. If their time table doesn't allow that then, take a deep breathe and look forward to an exciting adventure into a new life in a new place. I know one thing, most things in a positive thinking persons live usually works out for the best in the long run. Good Luck... Like to know your decision.

When you say you are about to start your senior year in high school, do you mean next fall? I can understand why you would want to complete HS in NJ since you have come this far -- it would be difficult and disruptive to start over in a new school for one year, then make the transition to college.
You sound like a thoughtful and intelligent person, so you can bring this maturity to bear when you sit down to have a discussion with your parents about this. Ask them if they can consider arranging things so that you can complete HS in NJ. If there is a house and/or property that they want to buy right now in NC, they will need to think about letting that go for now and making this move after you graduate.
When you discuss this situation with them, acknowledge their points and positions, and tell them you understand the move to NC is an important dream for them. However, a year or so is a very short time in the grand scheme of things, and you can explain that you think your grades will be better if you stay in HS where you are, and that you will be able to make the transition to college more smoothly.
Remember to focus on what is your responsibility: doing well in school and graduating and finding the right college. Don't take on the decisions about your parents' careers and how they will reorganize their lives in NC; that is up to them.
Good luck and God bless!

Life throws us curve balls all the time. Have you ever heard someone say that they are starting a new chapter in their lives? Well that is what you are about to do. No matter where you live, your friends are just that, your friends. In a year you will all be going to different places anyway. Just make the move, it may be good for you. Never know what is on the other side. They say that the grass isn't greener on the other side, but sometimes it is...depending on the situation. The move might make you feel like a better person and meet new people.
If you do move and hate it maybe you can see if you could finish out the remainder of your Senior year living with one of your friends. You have options, you just need to explore them. Good luck!

Lets see, as for you friends you can always stay in contact by email, phone, and yahoo messenger. As for jobs you can always find a new job in the new area you move too, so that won't be a big deal. now for college you can always start off at a city college, then transfer into a university that you wish. Moving might be a good idea for your parents if the cost of living is cheaper. Good Luck, I hope that helps a little..

It would be better for you to move now, so you have state residency in NC and can get in-state tuition there.
NC is safer, cleaner, and less expensive than NJ.
The cost of living is so much better, they may be able to afford the move if only one of the gets a job to start with. Buying a house, etc, can wait.. a job is the critical part.
Good luck!

It's always difficult to face moving and having to start over. If this move would be in everyones best interest I would go if I were you. You're only bringing forward the changes and separations that will happen next year anyway. You could keep in touch with your friends by phone and email and they can always visit. You will make new friends and can put whatever you've had to endure behind you. Whatever you decide I wish you happiness.

I say, make the move to NC now. If you spend your senior year there, you will have new friends who you can see when you visit your family, say, 10 years down the road.
My son did his Sr. year in CA, after 5 years in FL. He still sees classmates when he comes to town and stays with me in CA. He's still got the friends in FL, too!
