As a matter of fact I do. A committee of scientists look at the validity of the methods used to gather data and reach conclusions based on that data. When you submit a paper and it is rejected it includes specific problems that you need to address and resubmit it.
It does not review what the data says, or the conclusions themselves. It only looks at the scientific method used.

The deal is that when one academic writes an article the journal they submit it to sends it around to qualfied academics in other institutions for review, comment, challenge, before it is published. This keeps obvously sloppy and crackpot work from seeing print in legitimate academic publications.

Nah, Satan doesn't have time to sit around and read a bunch of magazines. He's too busy poking and prodding the wicked with his pitchfork.
Will you marry me?
